For me, ‘good’ coaching and mentoring helps individuals to change, grow and develop and of course, develop lasting helpful habits that make them stronger and more capable individuals.
But ‘great’ coaching and mentoring does this and a lot more. Great coaching and mentoring can have an impact beyond the individual by bringing in a broader emphasis to the coaching, helping individuals to effect change and collaborate with others to solve broader strategic challenges… both personally and in business.
For coaching and mentoring to be really ‘great’ I believe there needs to be a coordinated approach to the coaching and mentoring process – with a clear strategy, sponsorship from senior stakeholders and clear goals and metrics to determine the Return on Investment.
